Our scrambling course is for people who have some experience of grade 1 scrambles but want to take things further into grade 2 and 3 terrain and learn about rope work. It is based in the Snowdonia National Park where there are a wealth of classic scrambles to choose from at all grades.
What can I expect from a scrambling course in Snowdonia?
As with all mountain courses, weather and conditions dictate to some extent what can be covered but examples of aspects usually covered are:
- Mountain weather and forecasts.
- Clothing and equipment.
- Route choice.
- Risk Assessment.
- Movement skills.
- Safeguarding others in ascent and descent.
- Basic ropework.
- Use of karabiners, slings and if appropriate a basic climbing rack.
If the above dates don’t suit you, please contact us to discuss as I can often advertise a course to suit you.
Is this scrambling course for me?
The tuition takes place during full days out in the Snowdonia mountains therefore a certain level of fitness is required. A head for heights would also be beneficial.
If you would prefer the flexibility of booking a private course the daily rate for 1 or 2 people is also £180.
Please contact Freedom Outdoors for more information on our Scrambling, or to discuss your requirements and make a booking.
Had a fantastic two days looking at scrambling ropework last week. It was great working with Lou who was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and judged the content and pace of the course perfectly. Had loads of fun hanging out with some great people and learnt a lot along the way. Looking forward to going to more wild and challenging places and, thanks to Lou, I now have the confidence and skills to do so safely. Highly recommended!Ming Chung
