Freedom-Outdoors is an approved provider to deliver Mountain Training UK’s Hill and Mountain Skills courses. Our Hill Skills course in Snowdonia is aimed at the beginner hill walker and is ideal for those interested in developing a practical understanding of how to plan walks, become familiar with the use of a map, learn about the equipment required and also gain an understanding of the effects of weather, how to deal with emergencies and gain a valuable understanding of the upland environment. The course utilises countryside and moorland areas where the skills will be transferable to many popular walking areas of the UK and Ireland. Duration: 2 days
What does the hill skills in Snowdonia course cover?
As with all of our courses we have a flexible approach to cater for individual needs but examples of aspects usually covered are listed below:

- Map features and symbols.

- Measuring distances to calculate walking time.

The Hill Skills course in Snowdonia follows Mountain Training’s syllabus. Mountain Training is an organisation which aims to educate and train people in walking, climbing and mountaineering. They have developed a range of nationally-recognised mountain leadership, instruction and coaching awards, as well as skills courses. If you wish to receive a certificate of attendance as well as the other benefits listed below all you need to do is give me some details so that I can register you for the award.
