Winter Skills Course, Scotland or North Wales

Our Winter Skills courses take place in either the Glencoe/Fort William area of the Scottish Highlands or Snowdonia. The winter environment is a spectacular place but not one to be underestimated. If you have a love for the mountains, have done some summer hill-walking and now want to learn the skills to allow you to safely enjoy the mountains in winter, this is the course for you. This course is available in a two or three day option.

As with all of our courses we have a flexible approach to cater for individual needs and weather conditions but examples of aspects covered are listed below:

  • Winter Route Planning
  • Avalanche awareness
  • Winter navigation
  • Crampon technique
  • Ice axe use
  • Equipment choice
  • Emergency procedures

A walking axe and crampons can be provided. Boots must be hired if you do not have your own.
