
Winter Skills Course, Scotland or North Wales
Our Winter Skills courses take place in either the Glencoe/Fort William area of the Scottish Highlands or Snowdonia. The winter environment is a spectacular place but not one to be underestimated. If you have a love for the mountains, have done some summer hill-walking and now want to learn the skills to allow you to safely enjoy the mountains in winter, this is the course for you. This course is available in a two or three day option.
Skills
As with all of our courses we have a flexible approach to cater for individual needs and weather conditions but examples of aspects covered are listed below:
- Winter Route Planning
- Avalanche awareness
- Winter navigation
- Crampon technique
- Ice axe use
- Equipment choice
- Emergency procedures
A walking axe and crampons can be provided. Boots must be hired if you do not have your own.

Pre-Requisites
Summer hill-walking experience.
A reasonable level of fitness.
Price
£250 for the three day course
£180 for the two day course
If you would prefer the flexibility of booking a private course the daily rate for 1 or 2 people is £180.
