The Trail Technique course is designed to give you the skills and confidence necessary to tackle obstacles encountered on up to red grade trails. The core skills of mountain biking are often overlooked but are essential for riders who want to gain confidence and progress. We will spend time looking at various skills in isolation and then put them into practise on local trails during the rest of the course. In North Wales we have a huge number of suitable trails to choose from. These range from local trail centres such as the Marin Trail, Penmachno and Coed y Brenin, to a wealth of natural trails.
Mountain bike skills
We will spend time developing the following skills during the two days.
- Body position: ascending, descending and cornering.
- Affective braking.
- Cornering at speed.
- Lifting the front and back wheel manually or power assisted in order to avoid obstacles.
- Technique for dealing with drops.
There will be plenty of time to test your new-found skills out on the trail.
Is the Trail Technique course suitable for me?
Yes, if you are happy on blue grade trails, want to improve your skills and have a reasonable fitness level.
We ask that you bring suitable clothing for riding in whatever the weather throws at us as well as a helmet and gloves. Unfortunately we are not able to offer bike hire but this is available locally if you wish. Please get in touch and we can help you with arrangements.
If you prefer the flexibility of making a private booking the daily rate for 1 or 2 people is £180.
