Mountain bike fundamentals
Many people are too nervous to make the transition from riding on the road or simple dirt tracks to more challenging trails. Our mountain bike fundamentals course will build on your skills gradually at a pace that suits you. As your confidence increases with your skill level you will be amazed at the ease at which you will be able to tackle obstacles.
What is covered on a mountain bike fundamentals course?
- Pre-ride bikes checks: Learn what to look for to make sure that you get the most out of your bike during the ride.
- Importance of staying loose and relaxed: activities geared towards getting you to relax on your bike.
- Body position (the attack position). Varying body position to keep balance and maximise efficiency.
- Effective breaking.
- Tackling obstacles
- Cornering technique.
- Reading the trail.

Is the mountain bike fundamentals course the right course for me?
Yes, if you are new to mountain biking and want to learn the skills needed to ride on technical trails with confidence. You will need to be able to ride a bike confidently on even terrain and have the fitness to be able to ride up moderate hills.
We ask that you bring suitable clothing for riding, shoes, helmet and gloves. Unfortunately we are not able to offer bike hire but this is available locally if you wish. Please get in touch and we can help you with arrangements.
If you would prefer the flexibility of booking a private course the daily rate for 1 or 2 people is £180.
