Scrambling

Scrambling

Our scrambling course is for people who have some experience of grade 1 scrambles but want to take things further into grade 2 and 3 terrain and learn about rope work. It is based in the Snowdonia National Park where there are a wealth of classic scrambles to choose from at all grades, such as Bristly Ridge and Crib Goch. This course is run over both two and five days.

What can I expect from a scrambling course in Snowdonia?

As with all mountain courses, weather and conditions dictate to some extent what can be covered but examples of aspects usually covered are:

• Mountain weather and forecasts.
• Clothing and equipment.
• Route choice.
• Risk Assessment.
• Movement skills.
• Safeguarding others in ascent and descent.
• Basic ropework.
• Use of karabiners, slings and if appropriate a basic climbing rack.

“Having now been both instructed on my ML training and assessed on my ML assessment by Lou, I would without hesitation recommend her to anyone looking for instruction or guiding in the outdoors. Calm, approachable and a good sense of humour. Lou was understanding of gaps in my knowledge base and helped to encourage me to work on areas I required to pass my mountain leader award. I would love to work with Lou again in the future.”
